Nadja R. Ging-Jehli, PhD

Nadja is the founding director of the NAIADEL Lab and an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Arizona. She is also the founder and scientific director of Gearshift Fellowship, a distributed scientific ecosystem for studying and building adaptive intelligence and agency in humans and artificial agents.

Her research integrates computational neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and artificial intelligence to understand how agents infer when their actions matter, regulate control and effort, and adapt when environments change. By combining formal theory, computational modeling, experimental paradigms, and biological measures, she studies how adaptive mechanisms emerge, how they become miscalibrated in mental health conditions, and how artificial agents can be designed to support rather than erode human agency.
